DNhour is a new domaining resource that is becoming very popular in the domain name community. What is your added value in a sector where so many quality resources already exist?
DNHour.com started several months ago with the aim of giving reporting power back to the crowd, particularly in the niche domain name industry. In other words, it is the members of the community who submit, vote, and comment on the news that they find interesting or beneficial. This is called “crowd-clout”. Most other domain resources are blogs, forums or news portals/agregators and sometimes the news are skewed towards the editor’s opinions. The difference with DNHour is that domainers get to choose the news they find interesting and is not edited. (unless it is spam). Dnhour.com is also a huge and targeted resource center for domain name bloggers or companies to market their wares. By posting announcements or latest blog entries, highly targeted traffic can be instantly driven to their landing pages. Links from DNHour.com to their websites carry very much weigh in search engine rankings and SE will index the targeted pages almost instantly. This is so because DNHour.com is updated many times daily and this will undoubtedly help the rankings of pages linking to DNHour as well.
Social-content websites like Digg are largely subject to spam and disguised advertisements. Is it a concern for you? How can you control the quality of the content?
Spam is an inherent problem in any social websites. As long as the “disguised advertisements” are domain name related and beneficial to the community, it is fine. The editors at DNHour.com are particularly sensitive to non-domain related spam and will filter them out almost instantly. It has not really been a concern so far because most of the members are very professional. Most domaining resources come from Anglo-saxon countries and seem to be interested only in domain names in English.
We at domainpredator believe that non-English domain names offer much better opportunities. Would you agree with that? How much of your visitors are not from Anglo-saxon countries? Is this part growing?
The domain name industry has evolved in the past few years and will continue to do so. Non-English domain names, IDNs and ccTLDs will offer new investment opportunities among others. At the present moment, most of DNHour’s visitors are from English-speaking communities, mainly so because DNHour is in English. Geographically, the domain industry is powered by domainers from the USA, EU, India and Australia. There is definitely growth for the domain industry in non-English speaking countries such as in Asia and Latin-America but DNHour has not tapped into this market yet. However, we would like to welcome all non-English speaking domainers to contribute their knowledge and opinion regarding domain name industry to DNHour.com.
