The importance of age and date of expiry in the value of a domain name

The age of a domain name plays a significant role in the calculation of its value. Old domains are more valued than young domains, mostly because they tend to rank better in search engines. But there is also a trend of seeing old domains (prior to 2000) as rare and thus valuable things. The age of a domain can be found in the whois info. Real old domains must have not expired and being registered again since their first registration.

The expiration date of the domain has not a high importance anymore, as registration costs have become very low.
